Meet Your 2026 Clark County Arts Commissioners
Clark County Arts Commissioners
Kevin Fitzgearld – Representing Business
Kevin has been a musician since 3rd grade when he got his first instrument. He was in junior high and high school bands and ensembles. After getting his B.Music in Performance at U. of Colorado, he was accepted into the elite Air Force Band. The band toured nine states in the eastern part of the country, performing 2 to 3 gigs a day. After the Air Force, he attended music instrument repair school in Seattle and went on to work in that field while continuing his performing and community outreach. This job is what brought him to Vancouver in 1985.
Switching to a love of improvisation, R&B, and Jazz, Kevin went back to school and earned a Performance Certificate specializing in Bass Guitar from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Then, in 2012, he started the Jam Session™ organization, which offers classes for adult musicians seeking to advance their skills in performing with others, starting at Clark College and then expanding to Mount Hood College for five years.
Since then, he has continued the classes as his own private business. This has given him the opportunity to deepen his relationships with business owners by introducing them to the benefits of supporting the arts in their communities.
Along the way, I also earned a postgraduate degree in music education from Lewis and Clark College and a Master’s degree in Administration from WSU Vancouver.
He is currently involved in bringing music and the arts into business communities to increase public exposure and reward artists. He’s a member of the Vancouver Downtown Association, the Greater Vancouver Chamber, a representative of Clark County Arts Commission representing business, and the owner of the not-for-profit Jam Session™ Organization.
He welcomes the opportunities presented to him to further enhance the business community in his position representing Business on the Clark County Commission.
